Thrifty Tuesdays

I've decided to be a total lame-ass, and have a theme for each day. And yes, the theme starts with the same letter as the day... And yes, I am aware that's lame. But I don't care. I am a little lame, and I am totally (well, mostly) okay with that.

Okay, I am done with my digression (trust me, you will notice this is a reoccurring theme with me).

"So what is Thrifty Tuesday anyways?" I am glad you asked.

To sum it up, it's a favourite topic of mine. How to be frugal. Where to cut corners. Using things in different ways you may not have thought of.

So without further ado, here's my 3 top items to use in multiple ways.

1. Baking soda- It's not just for the fridge my friends, oh no, this wonder of a product should be called magic powder, and it ain't the kind that will get you arrested (or in rehab).

Run out of toothpaste? It will clean and whiten in a pinch. If you have oily skin, use it to scrub your face (2-3 times a week max). I love using it to clean the bathtub and sink, it's abrasive enough to get the grime, without having to worry about bathing in chemicals next time you have a bubble bath. Speaking of baths, use a cup in the tub to help keep your skin soft, and also to rebalance your pH levels, should you run into any ahem, "lady problems".

2. Oil of Oregano- This powerful oil is both anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. Have a cold or feeling a bug coming on? Take a shot of "OOO" twice a day (4 drops worth) and you will get rid off the infection a lot faster. **Word of advice.** Take it with some orange juice and shoot it down like a shot of your least fav booze, quick and dirty is the trick. Follow it up with some juice to cut the taste, it's nasty, but it works.
I also use "OOO" on any pimples I see starting to pop up, it'll kill the bacteria and stop the sucker from rearing it's ugly head.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar- This stinky yet effective nectar is so useful, they even wrote a book about the many uses. I'll share a few with you.
Sinus Infection getting you down? Take a shot of this to help thin out the mucous and get your head clear again.
Use it for weight loss. Drink a shot before each meal to help keep your blood sugar stable, thus helping your body convert the sugar slower, using more for energy, less for that spare tire you may be sporting.
Hair feeling like it's never clean enough? Running a cup over your hair in the shower after shampooing and before you condition will help get rid of build-up and rebalance the scalp, your hair will come out soft and shiny. Just make sure you have your head back and eyes closed, it's acidic, and your eyes will not be thanking you if it gets in them.

There's a lot more where these came from and I won't be shy about sharing, so stay tuned for more tips to get the most bang for your buck.

Happy Tuesday everyone!
